Strength!

Strength is one of the biggest aspects of health and fitness. I really want to start incorporating it with my 7am client. She is getting really good at the movements so I feel it is about time to put strength days into our program. She has come from doing machines only to now deadlifting with the bar. I am so proud of her. There are many more accomplishments that she has done but I feel graduating (what her and I called it) to the bar is a big jump.

We deadlifted 5x5, which means 5 sets of 5 reps and going up in weight with every set. Our final set was at 88lbs. Thats awesome! I feel she could have done more but of course you don't want to push it the first day. I took the time to explain to her that strength is a great quality to have because it just makes workouts and everyday life that much easier. I am looking forward to doing more strength days with her and seeing how she does with the other workouts that I put together for her.

Congrats 7am!

Day to Day

My 7am client is making dramatic strides in the right direction in our workouts. My main goals with this client is to get her to squat to full depth and keep improving her shoulder flexibility. With each session I have with her I see improvements in her movements. I feel with her drive and being consistent with her workouts she will have no problem with achieving the goals I have set for her.

I always have a great time with my 7am client and I learn more everyday from her. I cannot wait to see how she will be doing weeks or months down the road.

Long time coming!

Its taken me awhile to put up my first post for personal training, but now I have some time so I figured I will get on it.
I can not say it enough about how much work my two current clients have put in during our sessions. My 9am client just finished her 24 sessions and has now moved on to the group classes for the gym. I am so proud of her and how much she has improved since I have started working with her. She has really found how to push herself in workouts and how to become more efficient with her movements. I like how we set goals when we first started out and she set them high, which I love, because this gives me the opportunity to develop workouts for her to get closer to those goals.
There are three high accomplishments that I would like to share because I am so happy for her that she has come this far. In the beginning her strength was an issue with a lot of the lifts. So the workout Fran (which was one of her goals) was difficult because of how heavy the thrusters were for her and how hard the pull ups were as well. At the end of our time together she was doing the prescribed weight and doing pull ups with our lightest band. The second accomplishment was her work capacity. She was able to decrease her times in her workouts throughout our sessions. Our last day we did a workout that we did in the beginning of our sessions, and realistically i was hoping for seconds or maybe a minute better. She did the workout over 5 minutes faster than the last time. This was unbelievable, because just improving by seconds is really good and now improving my minutes is remarkable. Now the last accomplishment is her strength, one big improvement would be in her dead lift. She made over a 50 pound increase in her dead lift over the time we had.
I couldn't be more please with her work ethic and how she wanted to be better than the time before. I love my job and this is the reason why I do. Seeing people grow and become better is the best gift there is. I wish her luck in the group classes and I know she will do great.
